Working Near Powerlines Initial

Contact with overhead powerlines is a serious risk and is one of the largest single causes of fatalities associated with mobile plant and equipment.
Initial Work Near Overhead Powerlines (WNP) training is aligned to the SafeWork NSW Code of Practice 2006.

Introduction:

The SafeWork NSW Code of Practice aims to protect the health and safety of persons by managing the risks associated with work near overhead powerlines and includes references to the legislative obligations of persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU), officers, and workers who are required to work in close proximity to overhead powerlines.

DURATION
2 days (8:00 am - 4:00 pm)

LOCATION
Essential Energy has purpose built training facilities across it's network. Specific workshop location information is available in the session information section below.

FEES (GST is not payable on course fees).
$2500 per day (max 15 participants)
Venue hire can be arranged on request, at additional cost.
Additional charges for travel and accommodation apply and are calculated at Australian taxation rates.
PAYMENT
Invoices will be sent to participants after completion of the course.

EQUIPMENT
Participants are required to bring their ID, a pen and personal protective equipment to the course:
  • Work clothes, work boots,safety helmet (less than 2 years old), high visibility clothing or vest.
  • No open shoes are permitted.
  • Participants who are not appropriately attired may be asked to leave the training venue.

AUTHORISATION
All requests for Initial training must have a copy of current NSW OHS Induction for Construction Work authorisation, or equivalent, attached for each nomination.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be received five working days prior to workshop or applicable charges may apply. Essential Energy reserves the right to reschedule any course if insufficient enrolments are received.
Workshops may be cancelled up to 4 weeks prior. Should this occur, participants will be notified. Essential Energy will not be held liable for any claims arising from course cancellation.

Please note catering is not supplied.

Target Audience:

Participants undertaking this course must hold a current SafeWork NSW OHS Induction for Construction Work General Authorisation or equivalent.
Requests for Initial training must have a current copy attached for each nomination.?

Learning Outcomes:

  • Preparation to work safely near live overhead power lines as a non electrical worker
  • Carry out the work safely near live overhead power lines as a non electrical worker
  • Complete the work safely near overhead power lines as non electrical worker

Learning Methods:

Competency assessments are completed as part of the course and are based on practical/oral and written assessments.

Program Benefits:

  • Once successfully completed, participants will receive an identification card that is recognised in NSW for a period of 12 months. This will enable workers to be able to work to reduced clearances in accordance with the WNP Code.
